There are a few people outside the Avengers, who know better (like Claire, who knew he was on the level even before she pulled him out of the dumpster, thanks to the glowing testimonies of some of the people he'd saved) but not many. Most people still blame him for bringing down half the Kitchen. Again.

(Then again, maybe he'll make an appearance as a villain in a comic, sooner rather than later, by that logic. He's not sure that thrills him much.)
